Here's a recent interview with Dr. Gawande. A very good read: http://www.salon.com/news/healthcare_reform/index.html?story=/books/int/2010/02/02/atul_gawande_checklist
Where can I find a list of other events in this series? (Your image doesn't link back to the event web page.)
Dr. Gawande was a guest on the Daily Show last night.

I don't think the lecture series has a website yet. They just launched it this year.
OK, but now I'm curious where you found the poster. (Did you scan it in?)
Oh, of course. The image was here.
poops. Wish I could attend. I'm a fan of his books.
We regret that tonight's Harvard Writers at Work talk by Dr. Atul Gawande, which was scheduled for 7 p.m. in Fong Auditorium, has been canceled due to the snowstorm that forecasters are predicting for this evening. Dr. Gawande hopes to re-schedule his appearance for sometime this spring. We will be sure to notify you of the new date.
Gee, only 5" of snow are forecast.
Statistics show that checklists during surgery saves lives.
Statistics also show that canceling events during a blizzard saves the life of the speaker and the attendees.
Unsafely presenting a safety speech would be kinda absurd.
This is the Northeast as well as the winter snow season, and therefore, the event should have been prepared baring in mind that a snow storm was a distinct possibility.
So, what preparations should have been made? Snowshoes sent out to the first 100 registrants?
The South has tornadoes. So, church on Sunday must go on! Even when the tornado passes!
Seriously. Everything in Boston is being canceled tonight. What, Anonymous, would you suggest the planners of the event should have done?
It means people should be prepared of the possibility that the event may be canceled due to weather! So don't get pissed if the event is canceled.
Ha! Always read the fine print on the back of the ticket.
For those of you bummed at not getting to check off Dr. Gawande's talk off your to-do list, I have a consolation gift for you http://forum-network.org/lecture/atul-gawande-checklist-manifesto
